The striking Steel Workers Union that represents those working for the University of Victoria Student Society drags on. Last week I featured a representative of the UVSS, so this week I'll begin the show with a few minutes with a member of the Steel Workers to get the union take on this action as it enters its fourth week.
And; Canada's media landscape is one of the world's most highly concentrated. Whether state, or corporate media, the narrow-casting of information threatens the democracy we all say we want to preserve. Fortunately, there still exists in the homogenous sea of easy-listening muzak and infotainment islands of individuated information delivery. Erin Radio, in Erin Ontario is just such an operation. The 50 watt community radio project has provided an alternative to the anti-democratic media concentration trend for more than six years, but now creeping monopolization threatens its survival.

Last week, just hours before the first scheduled presidential debate, Republican candidate john McCain announced an end to his campaign, and said he would not participate in the debate. David Swanson is an accomplished political activist, organizer, and he's the creator of several political activist web sites, including: afterdowningstreet.org, anationdeceived.org, impeachcheney.org, and his own site, davidswanson.org. David Swanson and spiralling towards election day in the third segment.
And; it's on every T.V. screen, and covers the front page of every newspaper beyond the tabloids: the American economic implosion is the story eclipseing all others. Over the weekend, Bush administration press secretary, Dana Perino reiterated president Bush's vow to have a "rescue package" for Wall Street ready before today's opening bell on the trading floors of New York.
