April 28, 2008 - YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!
by IAKOHA'KO:WA/Jenn Tsun
On April 21, 2008, the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) invaded the Mohawks of TYENDINAGA who are defending their territory against greedy developers. The OPP planned to destroy all HOPE amongst the people and sow seeds of terror in our communities.

Yet to their great credit, the Mohawk warriors are standing calm and firm against all the expensive hi tech equipment, the powerful weaponry and the overwhelming numbers.  They stand firm in the face of guns pointed at them. The Mohawks wear camouflage to emphasize their connection to Mother Earth.  They cover their faces to protect their families.

The POLICE wear armour and cover their faces with hideous visors to try to frighten us. They are so loaded with equipment they can hardly hear, see or move.  These cops are scared and not really sure why they are here pointing guns at unarmed people who refuse to run away. There are women and children in the road too, WATCHING the police who really need to be watched.

We've had some RAIN and the Land is quickly greening up.  The leafage on the trees is bursting out, it's startling and seems unexpected though the certainty of seasonal change is something we rely on in a troubled world.

Spring brings a great sense of renewal and hope every year.  We are intoxicated with the awakening air.  We marvel at the little green shoots pushing up from the fragrant earth.

Many people take no responsibility in protecting the Beauty of Mother Earth. They leave it to others to do it for them.

It is a very tense standoff now, designed to wear down the Mohawks who continue to gain sustenance through their rootedness to the Earth.  Several men have been taken prisoner and two have been badly beaten, broken bones.  OPP block roads to prevent the arrival of supporters who keep on coming and to harass the Mohawks of Tyendinaga as they come and go.

More needs to be done by those not able to go to Tyendinaga. The mainstream media is severely CENSORING news of what is taking place. Shame on them.

Your help is needed.  Please take a little time to inform yourselves of events and issues here.  Let your family and friends know - help spread the word.  And make those necessary calls and send letters to police and politicians.  Contact info has been provided by the hard-working Mohawks at MNN - see below.

Tell Julian Fantino to get his GOONS out of Mohawk Territory. Demand that the prisoners be released.  They have done nothing wrong.  The OPP has no jurisdiction in Haudenosaunee territory.  This is not a police matter.  Why exactly are the police in there anyway?

The politicians must answer WHY this costly and aggressive attack on Indigenous people!  What is going on?  Who will be next as we move further into police state?

Stop the madness!!!
