About

Pacific Free Press was launched in March 2007 by Dutch-Canadian Richard Kastelein of V.O.F. Expathos, in the Netherlands along with  Chris Cook - CFUV radio journalist and Editor in Chief of Pacific Free Press. Cook is based in , Victoria, British Columbia.

The site is a sister to Atlantic Free Press.

The mission of Pacific Free Press is simple: to dig out nuggets of truth from the slag-heap of lies, ignorance and witless diversion that has buried public discourse today. Pacific Free Press provides a new venue for disseminating hard news and insightful, fact-based analysis of the harsh realities too often ignored or distorted by the mainstream press.

RCMP at the tree sit - eviction notice expected
by Zoe Blunt
Hi folks, This morning (Dec 14), eight RCMP officers are at the tree camp. We expect they will try to evict the camp either this weekend, or in the next week or two.

They may try to arrest people for trespassing right away, or they may apply to the court for an injunction.

Five people are in tree platforms and three are on the ground. These volunteers are defending the sacred cave and endangered species habitat from a destructive highway development just west of Spencer's Road and Goldstream Avenue in Langford.

We encourage folks to come out and witness today, this weekend, next week, or anytime. Please bring warm clothes for yourself, rain gear, video and still cameras with spare batteries and film, water bottles, and friends. Lawyers are standing by, and we are asking for additional legal help and media volunteers.

Directions: from SpencerRoad and Highway 1, go south 1/4 km to Goldstream Avenue. Turn right on Goldstream, go west 1/2 km to Leigh Road (Glen Lake Automotive on corner.) Turn RIGHT on Leigh Road, go to the end of the road.

Alternative access directions will be posted. If access from Leigh road is closed, please call Zoe at 885-8219.

Thank you!
Zoe

Hold on foloks!
I hope They didn't break in yet (hope they won't).
You are the warriors of the wild.
Be brave, keep still.
We may lose a battle, but we haven't lost the war.
Enoey, nature will win at the end. Nature is the stronger, always.
Sadly, I can't be with you in body, but i'm here in mind.
Have fun (it's most important)
Sunny

Keep up the good work guys, we checked out the caves today February 3, 2008, they we're some of the best we've seen and it would be a shame to see them destroyed. Hope your efforts can help raise awareness for your cause.
