What a ride we've had; and all thanks to George W. Bush and
his troupe of circus clowns masquerading as public servants. Through
gerrymandered elections, rigged courts, and a single-minded devotion to
devolving democracy, the phoney war president has undone in his short
time in office hundreds of years worth of judicial and legislative
progress, taking America and her coalition of cowed "allies" back to
the edge of the Dark Age. Though not entirely without precedent,
venality and corruption have long been staples of the Washington scene,
the sheer scope of just what we know of the Bush administration's
mendacity is unparalleled in the American experience; nevermind the
skeletons yet to emerge the Whitehouse closets.
Greg
Palast is author of the New York Times bestseller, 'The Best Democracy
Money Can Buy: An Investigative Reporter Exposes the Truth about
Globalization, Corporate Cons, and High Finance Fraudsters,' 'Democracy
and Regulation: How the Public Can Govern Essential Services,' and his
latest, and recently reissued, 'Armed Madhouse.' Greg's ocean and
media-spanning journalism include exposes for BBC television's flagship
news program, Newsnight, and writing for the London Guardian's Sunday
Observer newspaper, and he's the recipient of numerous awards,
including his story 'Lobbygate' on Tony Blair's biggest scandal to
appear to that date, being named "Story of the Year," by his British
press colleagues. Greg Palast and touring the Madhouse in the first half.
And;
few of George's accomplices are free of investigative attention these
days, but none are feeling the heat more acutely than long-time Bush
devotee, Alberto Gonzales. The Attorney General is in a corner over the
firings last year of handful of federal States' Attorneys for
apparently political reasons. It's not the firings per se creating
problems for Gonzales, but the sordid way in which he and his office
handled the affair that has even some Republican legislators calling
for his resignation.

Elizabeth
de la Vega is a former federal prosecutor, journalist, and author. Her
articles appear in the Nation Magazine, L.A. Times, and Salon.com,
among other places, and her book, 'United States v. George W. Bush et
al' is a theoretical prosecution of President Bush, and his cadre of
extra-legal help-meets.
Elizabeth de la Vega and the danse macabre of the Loyal Bushies in the second half.
And;
Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up
to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria in the
coming week.
G-Radio is dedicated to social justice, the environment,
community, and providing a forum for people and issues not covered in
the corporate media.
