Its refreshing to see an analysis that doesnt mimick the propaganda distributed in the States about "Iran's pro-syrian proxy", hezbollah, mounting a coup in Lebanon. All the news media very purposefully exclude the fact that the opposion is not only made up of Hezbollah and Amal, but also lebanon's largest christian party, The free Patriotic Movement. That party's leader, Aoun, fought hard to get Syria out of Lebanon. he is hardly fighting now to get them back in! This is an inconvinient truth that the West wants to bury. The tensions in lebanon are not pro-syrian or anti-syrian, just as they are not shia vs. sunni. He essentially takes one side and champions it over another, usually choosing that favored by imperialists, left or right. This has generally been a sunni/shia thing of late in Lebanon and earlier in Iraq. "Nationalists" are his particular target in many cases. But even in the first Gulf War, he slandered Turkey while it was assisting Iraqi Kurdish refugees, trying to further drive a wedge between Turks and Kurds which imperialists have managed to do rather successfully since WWI.
