I truly understand how a 10 years old boy play in a war zone and feels about the occupiers regardless how much chewing gum they distribute. The boy enacts what he sees and hears from his family and friends and that is hate towards the Americans. Justified hate – absolutely, but you cannot blame too much the soldiers either. They live under constant fear of being attack by an enemy that they can’t see and fight plus whatever happened just before they passed by the boy (e.g. one of their own has just been killed). Nobody in this situation will laugh at a child pointing a gun at them! This is a “partisan war “afterwards where the enemy just vanishes in the crowd. And Fallujah is just a place where you better be ready to shoot. I am not trying to find an excuse for that particular instance but in the end the solders just want to make it home alive. Wait and see how the new changes in the rules of engagement will bring more terror than ever in the streets of Iraq's towns. - eulupu
